Canon EOS 40D

My DSLR body.

Apple iPhone 6S

My iPhone has completely replaced my old Canon SD800 IS point & shoot.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM

My Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM is easily my favorite lens that I own. It is fast, small, lightweight lens, that I find to be very versatile, and produces incredible sharp images. With a maximum aperture of f/1.4, you can shoot in extremely low-light situations, and obtain fantastic depth of field. This lens is almost always on my DSLR…it is my go-to lens.

Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM

My Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM was the kit lens that came with my Canon EOS 40D, and the lens I “learned” to shoot on. For an all-purpose zoom, it’s decent, but nothing like Canon L quality.

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM

I have borrowed this lens quite a few times, and really like it. At around $1100, it is one of Canon’s more inexpensive L series lenses, but is quite possibly the best value for your dollar when it comes to L glass. It’s not as fast as the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L (my dream lens), and certainly doesn’t have the reputation of that lens, but with a solid f/4 aperture throughout the focal range, great optics, and image stabilization, it produces fantastic and very sharp images.

Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM

I rented this lens to shoot a my sister-in-law’s wedding, and it deserves every bit of praise that is bestowed upon it. It’s a bit of a monster, and can be intimidating, but it’s fast and sharp…which makes it fantastic for the low-light situations a photographer often finds him/her-self shooting in at a wedding.

GoRuck GR1

As outlined in my Everyday Carry 2016 post, the GoRuck GR1 is the best backpack I have ever owned. A mix of minimalist and utilitarian design…form follows function with this pack. It simultaneously serves as my work backpack, my travel backpack, and my photography backpack. On a day-to-day basis, it carries everything I need, including some items not pictured. With a reverse flag patch, it shows a bit of patriotism, while not screaming USA! USA! USA!
