My Everyday Carry 2012

I recently came across the blog Everyday Carry (EDC), where people document the items or gadgets that they carry with them everyday. I found myself rather intrigued as to what people carry everyday, and the thought that they put into these items. I imagine most people don’t spend much time thinking about the items they carry with them everyday…they just throw their keys, mobile phone, wallet, watch, pocket knife, or whatever else in their pockets, jacket, or purse, and hit the road.

As I was looking through the images of people’s everyday carry items, I got to thinking about my everyday carry items. So without further adieu, here they are…

Wedding Band
I still love the engraving inside the band that my wife surprised me with on our wedding day, “Come Rain, Come Shine”.

Leather Coach Wallet
My wife gave me this Coach wallet in 2003 (or maybe 2004?). It is the only wallet I have ever owned that cost more than $25, and probably not coincidentally, the only wallet that has lasted me longer than a year or two. After almost 10-years of use, and a trip or two through the washing machine, it has held up remarkably well. That being said, it is starting to show it’s age, and I have a feeling a replacement is on the horizon.

Apple iPhone 4S
An iPhone has been in my pocket since the original was released in 2007. It serves as my connection to the world with Twitter, Facebook, Mail, Messages, the Internet, and a slew of other apps. It is also serves as pretty good point & shoot camera, and with a full suite photo editing apps, it is probably my most used camera.

MINI key, Leatherman Micra & clip
In an odd twist of irony, the key for my MINI Cooper S isn’t exactly…uh, mini. So I try to keep things to a bare minimum on my keychain…my MINI key, house key, mailbox key, and a Leatherman Micra multi-tool.

Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph
I’ve always loved watches, especially Swiss timepieces…Tag Heuer, Rolex, Omega, Breitling, Tissot, Oris, etc. My Tag Heuer Formula 1 was a gift from my wife on our first anniversary. A great looking watch, that can survive the high g-forces of Formula One…so it will continue look great on my wrist for a long, long time. At least until I can add a Rolex Submariner, an Omega Speedmaster, or a Tag Heuer Monaco or Carrera to my collection (hey, I can dream).

Ray-Ban RB3342 sunglasses
A nice set of aviators to shade my eyes in style.

Canon EOS 40D with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
My DSLR, combined with a fast 50mm prime lens, makes for a nice, lightweight, versatile, go-everywhere camera setup. It’s not pictured here, because it took the photograph of my EDC items.

Moleskine notebook w/stainless steel Parker Jotter ballpoint pen
For sketching, designing, notes, and whatever brain droppings happen to hit the pages.

Apple MacBook Air
My work laptop, so it travels with me at least five days a week. A beautiful design…thin, lightweight, and with a 256GB solid-state hard drive, quick. Handles everything I need to do at work, and occasionally serves as a my mobile photo editing platform.

Apple iPad mini
Another work device. Technically, I’m “field testing” it, but I like it so much, I have started using it almost exclusively over my iPad2.
